Congrats, little boys are soooooo fun and exciting, every day is a new adventure with them. But donβt trust me much; Iβm biased since I myself have one boy plus blue IS my favourite colour. I know you and Matt are going to be great parents.
I think “Buzz” would be cute. I’m a fan of “unusual” grandparent names especially if there is a story behind the name.
Congrats on the baby boy! My oldest is a boy and after having a sister growing up the world of mudpies, trucks and superheros was a brand new to me but it’s been a BLAST!
I think Buzz or Grandma Buzz would be fun since it was my childhood nickname, and I was sad no one used it anymore until Matt revived it. My dad gave me the name when I was three because I was such a talker.
We are all about the unusual names. My Mom is Ampy,,,which was HER childhood nickname (her name is Ann) and my Dad is Bat Man b/c he did NOT want a “Grandpa” name. I LOVE Buzz!
BUT, as it goes, I’m sure you will answer to whatever that little man calls you! π
Have Fun!
The minute I knew I was pregnant – I knew it was a boy. And although I mentally let go of the girl stuff (Mani/pedis, pink bows) I was thrilled to bits that he was going to be with me. And let me tell you – girls are super awesome and I hope to have one one day, but boys? Boys and their mamas are a cliche for a reason. CONGRATULATIONS!
congrats!! We didn’t find out and now I’m 24 weeks and I really want to know- I am tempted to ask our midwives if they know from our last ultrasound. Now i’m getting impatient!
I had a feeling. I have an only child – a boy. Since I’m not a girly girl it is perfect. And boys are the sweetest babies/toddlers. Congrats and best wishes.
aAAAAaAAaAAAAAAaaAAAhhhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHH! (that’s meant to express my excitement right now) I’m so happy for you! Congratulations! It’s so fun to follow you through your KERF and BERF journeys. I’m learning so much from you.
What’s your “policy” on naming your son? Will you be sharing the final decision or wait til his birth day? … I think I’ve been looking at baby name books since I was like… five. Haha.
Have a wonderful day, Kath!
I was going to tell you weeks ago that I thought you were having a boy. SO many things you were saying were true of my boy pregnancies.. one example being no veggies and BBQ! I have also totally loved OJ during my boy pregnancies too. Congrats! Boys are wonderful! I am currently pregnant with my THIRD! π I am pretty fond of them!
Ahh! You found out pretty early, how exciting! I know I could hardly wait with my little girl even though I was certain she was a girl… I needed proof. In fact, I had them check a second time at a later ultrasound! Lol, but I think with boys there’s no uncertainty π
YAY for BOYS!!! Congrats! I had a feeling we might be having the same gender with our pregnancies resembling each other so closely. It makes me so much closer and connected to the baby being able to call it “him” and “he”!!! It feels so much more real now!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Ya know, the entire time I was pregnant, I had convinced myself I was having a girl (we didn’t find out) and low and behold we had a boy and I was definitely surprised! I have to say, I can’t even PICTURE a daughter now and if a #2 comes along, I would seriously be JUST as happy to have another boy. Before he was born, I just always pictured “little girl” things and I think it just comes from BEING a girl and playing with dolls! lol
I’m slightly more excited by your news as a Mom of a sweet little boy myself π Congratulations to you both π
Wow, wasn’t expecting that announcement already, congrats! So exciting. Also just catching up on BERF posts from this week and I absolutely ADORE what Ashley did with Ada’s room too. Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with for the nursery.
congratulations!!!! Did you get another scan on week 17 at your doctor office or at specialized ultrasound place?
I’m 13 weeks now and can’t wait to know the gender!!!
So exciting!!! Finding out the sex is such a fun moment– it just makes everything seem more REAL!! Plus, now you can start stocking up on super cute clothes π
Ahhh! Just wait. You are going to be so in love with him! You can be covered in puke and he may be going on hour 3 of screaming, but you’ll still cry just thinking about how much you love him. <3 So happy for you and Matt!
SO exciting!!
I’m thinking we will be finding out the sex of ours too…but lots of people have good points about not finding out as well..
I think I’m too much of a planner to wait!
Have you and Matt chosen a name??!
Will baby be Younger-M or just M for a last name? I’d love to hear about how this works out for your children… I’m considering keeping my maiden name and I’d be really interested to hear how you decide upon the names of your babies!
Good for you! We didn’t hyphenate (my daughter has my husband’s last name) and I wish we had. (Actually, just last night we discussed changing all of our names to Gibson-Swafford. May do that if she starts complaining about us not having the same name.)
I think it’s becoming more common so it shouldn’t be a big deal in school.
congrats! your announcement is SO cute. i love it. i have a 7 month old boy and having a son is amazing. each day (sorry to be a cheeseball) gets better and better. randomly not properly placed comment but…i wish i had not put so much “money” into the nursery. we used giftcards leftover from our wedding at williams sonoma to purchase nursery stuff at PBKids and while I am totally happy with the stuff, it isn’t any better than what we could have purchased at Target or Ikea – and with that stuff I’d feel better about the fact that time FLIES and the nursery is in a constant state of evolution…pretty soon the crib I was obsessing over will no longer be useful to him, and the changing table (open shelves with pretty little baskets you slide in and out – PBKids, too) will be re-purposed. I wish I had bought a GREAT dresser with a changing table topper, not a real changing table. So maybe that’s where I wish I had splurged more, but I wanted to have stuff match and the real dressers that were big enough were 700+. I would spend more on a rug that you like that is comfortable and doesn’t SHED so that when your baby is doing tummy time and learning to crawl they aren’t eating the rug. The one you picked is a great choice. My husband is a pediatrician, so for whatever it is worth – no bumpers or quilts or pillows or toys in the crib so really make sure you love your crib skirt and fitted sheet as that is really all you will see. I found most of our artwork on Etsy and framed it myself at craft store. The best thing I have seen for a small room is the Ikea Spice Rack shelves repurposed to be bookshelves mounted on the wall (Emily at DailyGarnish did it, too). Invest in a great monitor, a great stroller and a great carrier. I love our Bugaboo and CitiMini but wish we had done the UppaBaby instead of the Bugaboo. I love our Ergo carrier, it strikes me as a “you” product, as well. And I love our Summer Infant Video Monitor which we bought at Costco as these items break easily and they stand behind their stuff. I would HIGHLY recommend you splurge on an organic mattress…there is a ton of research on why it makes sense. We were easily convinced despite the fact that we don’t do organic most of the time even for produce. Your baby spends a TON of time in that crib. Anyway…I could go on and on and on. Basic advice is – you can’t go wrong with anything you do but in the end you’ll end up loving your baby and having a million “next time I would….” – happy weekend and congrats again. We named our son Elliot and I didn’t pick the name until he was being sliced out (ugh, C-section) and it just felt right. Luckily my husband and I had discussed potentials ahead of time…so when I was all looped up and “told the doc” his name, it was a kosher decision π You guys are adorable, I only wish I lived closer so I could walk you through all of our stuff and give you hand-me-downs!
OMG!! Congratulations!!! I kinda jealous….I’m 17 weeks today and they won’t do an ultrasound until at least 20 weeks to see. Did you have any idea or thoughts that it may be a boy?
Congrats!! How exciting! That’s so fun that you got to find out on the early side. Waiting to hit 20 weeks was killer! Were you surprised or did you have a gut feeling? Oddly enough, I had no dreams or anything about whether I was having a boy or girl, and was shocked to find out we’re having a little girl in July. However, I randomly had a dream that YOU were having a boy last week!?
ohh I always wanted to give you a heads up…if you have a Once Upon a Child second hand baby store go there for clothes!!! We had so much fun shopping for BOY clothes on Wednesday and got probably 30 outfits/sleepers/onesies for $78 and change!!! For things they grow out of so fast it’s so much nicer to spend less but still be able to stock up on adorable baby clothes. It’s all in perfect condition (they don’t sell anything ripped or stained) and I even got a lot of brand name Carter’s and Calvin Klein overalls (so cute!!!) We went to a brand name store and I got 4 or 5 outfits for $54 so it was definitely more fun bargain shopping lol
Just thought I’d share! I couldn’t wait to go out and buy gender specific things!!
I can’t second Reghan recommendation enough. Although any good second hand shop will be great. I’ve been amazed at the price differences, and it’s amazing how many times a little immobile baby can need an outfit change throughout the day!
So crazy that they can already tell the gender!
I say now that I wouldn’t want to find out when I am pregnant, but who knows if I’ll be able to hold back.
Little boys are the best!
SO EXCITED for you & Matt! I love little boys π (although, I don’t have any kids of my own, but I do have a godson who’s 4). I can’t wait to see what the name will be – some of my favorite boys names are Christian, Nicholas and Ryan, if you need some inspiration π
Ha! I commented once that based on your cravings I knew it was a boy. You are craving the EXACT same things I did. Congrats. My son is the light of my life and I know yours will be too. Enjoy!
Obviously, both boys and girls are absolutely wonderful, but if you are feeling any sense of intimidation about being a “boy mom” … don’t. I’m one of two sisters, so I kind of felt like boys were foreign creatures, but they are so dreamy. And they adore their mommies. π
Your comment made me smile…they do adore their mommies! Little boys have always seemed a little intimidating to me, but heck…I don’t have kids yet so they all seem a little scary at this point! π
When I read your post I was like oh no baby blues…she’s sad about something. What a great ending to the post! Congrats to you and Matt! Little boys are so much fun!
Yay!! Congrats! I can’t believe I didn’t realize what you were getting at until the very end of that post… duh! I think having a boy first is perfect because then he can be the protective older brother! π
Yay! Congratulations! Little boys truly are the best! I have two of them, so I speak from experience. Little baby boys in little denim overalls–there is nothing cuter!
aw yay! Isn’t it crazy how you are barely showing yet but he is completely formed in there, enough so you can already tell the sex? It always baffled me how they had all their tiny fingers and their little nose, all perfectly formed inside yet from the outside I wasn’t even showing yet!
Congratulations! Very cool! I have three good friends who are long term kindergarten teachers–each of them has told me that the kids that have easier names to spell and are more common tend to be more confident in their learning and more flexible sociallly. There are always exceptions (one of them had a student named Cornelious and apparently was a very self assured kid who eventually became some kind of great adult. The name thing Floored meβ¦.but something to think about!
Congrats. I can imagine it is fun to know for sure, although part of me has to wonder, is there any chance they could be wrong? Not trying to spoil the excitement just remember that I think it was fitnessista where she had been told early on it was definitely a boy and then a later ultrasound revealed it was in fact a girl. I know your nursery design seems very gender neutral anyway.
Congratulations! We have a 5 month old baby boy named Franco and he is AMAZING. You are going to have so much fun with your baby boy. I’m surrounded by baby boys and they are so precious and as a mom, who doesn’t want a little mama’s boy? π
I’m enjoying following your journey and can’t wait to see your little boy soon!
Are you disappointed to find out he is a he? I thought you mentioned in a previous post you were hoping for a girl? (And the title choice I’ve Got The Blues, since the phrase is commonly used to describe sadness, I thought maybe that’s what you were implying?). You have plenty of time to plan & get in the son mindset! And of course we know you will love your kids whatever the sex!
No, that other post was just a joke because of the zebra striped diapers. I was 50/50 in favor of either one! And the blues was just a play on the color. No sadness!
Congratulations! I have a 21 month old son, Matthew, and love having a little boy running around the house. I cannot wait for my 20 week ultrasound (4 more weeks!) to find out if we are expecting a boy or girl in September.
OMG! π LOL – I am so dense sometimes. I was scrolling through your post, thinking, “Why is Kath posting all these random (and seemingly KERF-style) pictures on BERF? They’re nice, but…” Then I got to the last one. Duh! Many congratulations and blessings to you, Matt, your little boy, and entire family. π
Isn’t it so fun to KNOW?!! I’ll bet your mom & dad are excited, too–they’ll have the opportunity to experience a whole new world of babyhood/childhood.
Congrats, SO happy for you. And thank you so much for sharing it will the blog world! It makes my day to read your BERF posts (KERF too)
And now I want to eat a muffin, cake, and blueberries, darn it.
So fun that you found out a little early! At our 11w 3d ultrasound the tech was almost sure she saw boy parts, but we don’t find out “officially” until our 19w appointment April 30th. Seems like an eternity away! Congrats and now you can have really have fun shopping!
I legitimately thought you were just feeling sad until that last picture. I’m thinking, “Aw, I guess she’s still super nauseous??” But YAY, for the baby boy! π
Here I am reading along, enjoying the pics with a blue theme. I like the color! And, boom! The last pic and announcement made me say “Oh my goodness!” out loud! LOL! Congrats! Boys are so sweet and special. I have to share a blog with you. This mama came up with an adorable way to document her son’s growth on her blog. http://movelifestyle.com/category/baby-stuff/finn-photos/
Kath! I am 15 weeks and just found out yesterday that I’m having a boy. I feel like we are mirroring each other! I’m so happy for you. Congratulations about your SON!
!!! π I was on KERF and saw the title of this post – and had to click over because I knew “blue” meant something…happy for you whether a boy or a girl!
Congratulations on your baby boy news! I have 3 boys and they are sooo much fun. I am now 23 weeks pregnant with our first girl! I have enjoyed reading your weekly updates. π
Ahhhh congrats on having a boy. My sister just found out she’s having a boy as well. We have a lot of girls in our family so we’re all really excited. π
Wahooo! Congratulations! Mother of four little boys here… and I wouldn’t have it any other way! They are so much fun (and they really love their mommas!)
awww how neat, I have a sixteen year old boy and what a joy hes been to me, my bonus baby, John. I hope you have nothing but sweetness with this blessing!
Congrats on your little man guys! I don’t know why but this is a total surprise, for some reason I felt like BERF would be a girl! Boys are the best, I’ve got two, they rock!
I KNEW IT!! I knew you were gonna have a boy! I didn’t say anything cuz I didnt want to jinx you haha. Im sad that he won’t get to wear some of those girly cloth diapers haha! Oh welllll π
I totally see you being a momma to a little boy, its what Ive pictured since you announced your pregnancy π

Congratulations Matt & Kath!!! What a fun way to share.
Yay! Congratulations!
Congratulations!!! So excited for you both!!!!
Congrats, little boys are soooooo fun and exciting, every day is a new adventure with them. But donβt trust me much; Iβm biased since I myself have one boy plus blue IS my favourite colour. I know you and Matt are going to be great parents.
DELIGHTED!!!!!!!!!!! This mother of two girls can’t wait to have a baby boy in the family!
I hope Kath with share how they revealed to you and the rest of the family!! Congrats!!
Congrats!!!!!!!! So much joy is on it’s way. :))))
This is so sweet! Congrats to you too, Gramma! Do you have a grandma nickname for yourself?
Thanks. Not sure yet!
Thanks for pushing BUZZ!
We are all about the unusual names. My Mom is Ampy,,,which was HER childhood nickname (her name is Ann) and my Dad is Bat Man b/c he did NOT want a “Grandpa” name. I LOVE Buzz!
BUT, as it goes, I’m sure you will answer to whatever that little man calls you! π
Have Fun!

Aaah! Congrats! And how lucky to have found out so early. I have to wait until April 24th when I’m 20 weeks.
The minute I knew I was pregnant – I knew it was a boy. And although I mentally let go of the girl stuff (Mani/pedis, pink bows) I was thrilled to bits that he was going to be with me. Younger-Monson. It’s the fairest thing to do, and we’re fine with the decision. Just pretend he has a long last name!

YAY!!!! What a cute post with all your blue accent photos. Congrats to you and Matt. Now you can start thinking about names, clothes, etc…how fun!
Wonderful News! God Bless your growing family! π
Congrats! As a mother of one sweet 9 year old boy I can say they are amazing!!!!
Congrats!!! I lovelovelove having a little boy (11 mos. old). π

There’s one near Richmond!
Oh great!! Worth a trip down for sure!
definitely worth a trip! Our closest one is an hour away and I already want to go again!

So crazy that they can already tell the gender!
I say now that I wouldn’t want to find out when I am pregnant, but who knows if I’ll be able to hold back.
Little boys are the best!
Congrats!!! What a creative way to share, loved the pics!
SO EXCITED for you & Matt! I love little boys π (although, I don’t have any kids of my own, but I do have a godson who’s 4). I can’t wait to see what the name will be – some of my favorite boys names are Christian, Nicholas and Ryan, if you need some inspiration π
Very cool, congrats!
Congrats guys!!!
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations!!! Little boys are so much fun!
Isn’t it funny that people have been saying all along that they thought it would be a boy? How did they know?!
CONGRATULATIONS KATH!!!! That is SO exciting!! I am so happy for you two π π What wonderful news – thanks for sharing!!!
Congrats! Boys are a lot of fun—-can’t believe I wrote that after cleaning up pee in the bathroom. π
Woo hoo! Congrats on the early news!
Congratulations! I have four boys! So much fun π
Omg, so happy for you! Stupid, but I didn’t understood the meaning of the pictures until the last one…LOL!
Congratulations!!!
I knew it!!!! Congrats π
Congratulations! Loved the way you announced it. I definitely wasn’t expecting to hear you found out the sex already.
Ha! I commented once that based on your cravings I knew it was a boy. You are craving the EXACT same things I did. Congrats. My son is the light of my life and I know yours will be too. Enjoy!
Congrats! π
CONGRATULATIONS!
Little boys have always seemed a little intimidating to me, but heck…I don’t have kids yet so they all seem a little scary at this point! π
Congratulations!!!
Hooray for a boy! How exciting to know the gender of your child. I can imagine it must be a lovely feeling! Congrats again!
Congratulations- I have a son and they are pretty fun! He is five now and so funny.
Happy teary eyes for you up here in New England. Congrats on your little boy to be!
AHHH!!! So excited for you both!!!!! You are you going to have the most precious baby boy!!!! Congratulations!! I love how you revealed it also!!
Eeeeeee I knew it!!! Congrats!
Excited for ya! Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
congratulations kath and matt!!! that’s so exciting! π
Congrats! So many little boys these days π
Little boys are the best! So excited for you.
Is it time for another onesie…. in blue this time? π
Congratulations to you and your family!!
Congratulations! What a cute post!
I love baby boys!! I had two :).
Congrats!
So, so exciting! For some reason I thought you’d have a boy… Weird, right?
Congratulations!! SO exciting!
Congrats! I had a baby boy 5 months ago. π He’s a pure joy! I’d have them confirm it at a later ultrasound though, early results are often wrong!
When I read your post I was like oh no baby blues…she’s sad about something. What a great ending to the post! Congrats to you and Matt! Little boys are so much fun!
congratulations!! π
Yay!! Congrats! I can’t believe I didn’t realize what you were getting at until the very end of that post… duh! I think having a boy first is perfect because then he can be the protective older brother! π
Are you considering the name Peeta? I mean he will be the son of bakers….
Ah! What a great comment! π
LOL!!
CONGRATULATIONS on your baby boy!!!! =D
I’m having a boy as well π I am THRILLED (I sensed it was a son all along) and my husband is even more over the moon. :D:D
I’m sure you were happy either way, but since I have two boys, I’m kind of partial to the blues too! Congratulations Kath!
Ahhhh! So exciting!
CONGRATS!!! How exciting! π
Ahhh! That’s so exciting! The minute I read the post title I thought this might be the announcement! Congratulations π
I know I already commented over on KERF, but wanted to wish you and Matt (& family), Congrats on here too.
So… CONGRATS! How exciting!
This post is SO cute, what a great way to make the announcement!
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!! That’s SO exciting!!!
Yay! Congratulations! Little boys truly are the best! I have two of them, so I speak from experience. Little baby boys in little denim overalls–there is nothing cuter!
Yay for little boys! We can’t wait for ours to arrive in July!
Oh my gosh CONGRATULATIONS! You found out sooner than I did..I had to wait till 20 weeks. I’m having a boy too!
Always a small chance, but he seemed pretty confident and has only called a boy wrong once
Congratulations!!!
Congratulations! So exciting. And I love the photos leading up to the announcement.
EVERYONE I know has had a baby boy! Girls are becoming more and more rare π Congrats!!
Congrats! I’m so excited for you and Matt!
So exciting – congrats! Snakes and snails and puppy dog tails that’s what boys are made of π
and in our case, bread, oatmeal and ice cream π
What wonderful news! Congratulations to you both! π
OMG! π LOL – I am so dense sometimes. I was scrolling through your post, thinking, “Why is Kath posting all these random (and seemingly KERF-style) pictures on BERF? They’re nice, but…” Then I got to the last one. Duh! Many congratulations and blessings to you, Matt, your little boy, and entire family. π
Adorable post! Congrats Kath!!!
What a fantastic way to announce it – congratulations, Kath and Matt!! He’s already one lucky little guy to have such great parents. π
Yay! π
Isn’t it so fun to KNOW?!! I’ll bet your mom & dad are excited, too–they’ll have the opportunity to experience a whole new world of babyhood/childhood.
Here’s the announcement…Congrats, again!!
Congrats! Boys are so much fun!
Congrats, SO happy for you. And thank you so much for sharing it will the blog world! It makes my day to read your BERF posts (KERF too)
And now I want to eat a muffin, cake, and blueberries, darn it.
Little boys rock. I love your post…what a cute way to announce!
So fun that you found out a little early! At our 11w 3d ultrasound the tech was almost sure she saw boy parts, but we don’t find out “officially” until our 19w appointment April 30th. Seems like an eternity away! Congrats and now you can have really have fun shopping!
Oh my goodness!!!!! Congratulations!!!! π That is so exciting!!!
Did you find out at your 16 week appt?? I was wondering if you would find out because I always did around 16-18 weeks. π
As a mom of two boys and one girl, I can tell you that boys are awesome!!! π
Always remember this saying “The first woman a little boy falls in love with is his mom”. π
As a mama of three boys, I am super excited for you! Boys are awesome!!!
A big congrats to you!! I remember what it felt like the second we learned we are having a girl. Priceless. So excited for your growing family. π
Yah! Congrats! π
I legitimately thought you were just feeling sad until that last picture. I’m thinking, “Aw, I guess she’s still super nauseous??” But YAY, for the baby boy! π
Congrats!
congrats Kath
Yay it’s a boy!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! The grey and yellow will be perfect for a baby boy!
