23 Weeks: Saturday Snapshots

May 5, 2012

Things are coming along in the nursery…just a few updates this week:

Bunting flags from Etsy are hung! They required a complicated mathematical equation to get remotely close to even. Love the colors!

We also relocated Adam & Eve (painted by my grandmother) to the nursery when we got the new kitchen chalkboard. They help to balance the animals on the other side of the room. Lightweight too so less hazard for falling on baby than something big and heavy (like the glass frame that used to be there).

Baby has book!

Well, 3 at least. And shelves to put them on!

Beaker says it’s too hot for swaddling! But he loves his pinwheel from Caitlin’s shower!

I got a new [super supportive] bathing suit from Athleta at your recommendation! LOVE the top – I went straight to the DD bra size section and picked a halter with underwire. It fits great! I usually get suits at Old Navy, so this was by far the most expensive one I’ve ever bought, but worth it for a secure fit.

Any suit that makes a pregnant lady feel good is a winner!

Oh my goodness frog and toad books bring me back MAJORLY!!! I completely forgot about those and now I’m all nostalgic. hehe

LOVE the suit! Not pregnant, but I always have a hard time finding a suit that’s cute and “young” looking while still being supportive! I’m sure you know how those triangle tops don’t cut it for all of us! This is super cute…ordering it today!

Cute suit! My breasts are DD’s at their smallest….needless to say…not currently. But when I looked at my belly for the last 3 months…they have felt small. First time ever. I am ready to be proportionate again.

I am looking forward to that! Lol

You look great in your bathing suit 🙂

The room looks so homey and cozy! Love the bookshelf with books displayed.

Glad you found a nice supportive swimsuit. Worth it’s weight in gold!

The room looks great! It is coming together so nicely, Kath…. The swimsuit is cute! CAUTION: I laid out for about 30 mins last weekend to catch some sun and just enjoy the warmth on my body (before it gets any bigger) and the sun burnt the under side of my tummy because it has never been at that angle before- be careful- unlike this silly girl. HA!

Haha… New positions on the earth

Your grandma’s paintings are just gorgeous…. exactly my style, with the bright colors and bold lines. The nursery is shaping up wonderfully!

Kath- I think you look so great & I commend you for posting a bikini pic. I like how much more open you are on this blog!!

Frog & Toad were always favorites of mine! Actually, Frog & Toad are Friends was the first book I read by myself 😉

12 Mrs. Pancakes May 5, 2012 at 7:58 pm

Awww the books are so cute!

FROG AND TOAD! We have like all of those books. They were Stephen’s favorites from childhood. The room is looking great!

You look great!!! But be careful with underwire bras later in your pregnancy. It’s controversial but supposedly it may obstructs some of the flow of breastmilk. Just as an FYI! AND congratulations! I’m due september 19th with my second baby and your posts excite me so! I had a waterbirth for my first baby and it was the best experience ever. LOVED IT! Would have done a home birth if it weren’t illegal in NC.

Totally a personal question, but would you be willing to share the sizes you ordered (by email if not in the comments)? You and I have very similar builds and I am only 3 weeks behind you in my pregnancy. I need to order a suit for the summer and am loving the athleta ones, but have no idea how to ballpark the sizing. Would be so grateful for any pointers – you look fabulous! Thank you.

16 KERF May 6, 2012 at 7:03 pm

Sure, I got the 32DD top and medium bottoms 🙂

17 Jane May 6, 2012 at 7:32 pm

Thank you so much! The bottoms had me most puzzled, as I just got professionally measured for a new (HUGE) bra. I think you’ve likely spared me some back and forth exchange shipping! Many, many thanks. And rock on with that beautiful belly!

I loved the Frog and Toad books when I was little. What memories! You are going to fall in LOVE the second you meet your little guy. I had my daughter on Wednesday and now I know what parents say when they say your heart melts the second you lay eyes on your child. It is surreal. A miracle. Can’t wait for you to experience the joys of seeing him for the first time!

19 Megan Infantino May 6, 2012 at 8:29 pm

Yay for swimsuits! I don’t know if I’ll will be daring this summer and wear a two piece in front of everyone at the beach. I’m only 1 week behind you in pregnancy and I feel like a whale. You, however look adorable!! I remember Caitlin (HTP) posting her baby bump in her two piece swimsuit and I was like you go girl!!! Rock that belly! 🙂

I actually went to the cool today to do a few laps… My pre pregnancy one piece apparently just won’t cut it. Not only was I freaking out about my legs (My thighs have definitely thickened up in this pregnancy), but my BOOBS were falling out… Gah!! LOL

I guess I need to invest in a new suit.

20 KERF May 6, 2012 at 8:30 pm

Boobs are the #1 reason to buy a new suit when pregnant. Not something I ever would have expected!

21 Jeanette May 6, 2012 at 9:44 pm

Cute suit!

22 Lindsay @ Fuel My Family May 6, 2012 at 10:09 pm

love the suit! And you’re right…making yourself feel good is SO important during pregnancy!

23 janet May 7, 2012 at 4:49 am

Earlier in your pregnancy you noted the need to have your belly feel more secure (by wearing an extra shirt, I think?). Has this passed? I would think absolutely uncovered would be as unsupported as you could possibly feel?
All these pregnancy phases are so different!

24 KERF May 7, 2012 at 6:50 am

I still want to wear many layers in my normal clothes, but the one pieces I tried on just didn’t work, so at the beach this it is. I don’t think I’d want to cover up in 100*

25 Ashley May 7, 2012 at 9:06 pm

I just love the gray crib! Such a nice change from brown + white.

26 Kate May 7, 2012 at 9:09 pm

Saw these and thought of you: http://www.etsy.com/listing/67153037/tissue-pom-poms-5-paper-pompoms-when Nursery’s looking great!

27 KERF May 7, 2012 at 9:30 pm

Beautiful!! Love the colors!

28 Angel7 May 10, 2012 at 4:33 pm

Love the nursery!

Your grey and yellow color scheme in the nursery reminds me of the beginning of the show House Hunters and House Hunters International, because those are the colors they use 🙂

Beaker looks content 🙂
