He could come any day….. and I’ve been chipping away at a bucket list! It’s not that I won’t be able to do these things after he’s here, but I don’t know if I’ll ever be this relaxed doing them – or how long it will take for our family to get into some kind of normal.
Read Books
Loved On The Island and enjoyed The Hand That First Held Mine. Breastfeeding Made Simple was not a simple read AT ALL, but I enjoyed it and learned a lot about what to expect.
Lounge Days [And Naps]
Had a few of those! A day of nothing!
Romantic Date Nights
Get Pedicure
And lots of girl talk!
Attend Parties
and perhaps most important….
Be Spontaneous!!

Kath, be prepared to fall madly, deeply, unconditionally in love with your little fella the minute you set eyes on him. It’s a beautiful thing. Take the help when people offer it, practice saying YES to help, and enjoy the little moments. So excited for you both. Labor is intense but it’s a positive intensity. Listen to the trusted people you surround yourself with that day. You will be forever changed when the moment comes and will become a member of a club so treasured, of strong, amazing ladies. Stay strong. We’re all with you in spirit. All the best to you and Matt. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the other side. 🙂
also… be prepared to NOT fall in love with your baby right away! Sometimes it takes a few days/weeks to have this feeling. I know it did for me. The baby is essentially a stranger and it’s totally normal to need a little while to warm up 🙂
Wow!! Very well put Ida! Agree with ecah word that you said 🙂
I’m so excited to see the new baby any day now!
haha I feel like we are al pushing for this baby to come NOW NOW NOW!!!! hahaha And we think WE are excited … I can’t even imagine how you must be feeling right now!!!
Love the baby blue little piggies, as my niece calls them 🙂
I’m feeling that I’m running out of time with reading as well… reading like crazy these days.
A book that I highly recommend is Gone Girls! I finished in 2 days!!!
I also read the breastfeeding made simple, I agree, it’s kind of not a leisure reading because it has a tons of info. i’m planning to bring it with me to the hospital and follow the advices in action! 🙂
I cannot wait to hear what your lil boy’s name is 🙂 Could it be Baker? 🙂

Nope!
I actually found I had a lot of time to read in the first few weeks, even month or two. Nursing is the perfect time to read, especially because those first few weeks you’ll be nursing constantly.
I have three young children and still read 50+ books a year so there is hope!
Getting a pedicure is a great idea…doing that with young ones is not easy!
Me, too!! 🙂
Speaking of reading, Smplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne, M.ED is an EXCELLENT read. Living simply is how I’m able to still relax and read so much. 🙂
You do realize you “planned” to “be spontaneous” …..not criticizing, it’s pretty funny!
Not really – I was spontaneous and then decided that was a good thing that I was – past tense 🙂
But if anyone plans to be spontaneous, it’s me : )
Haha…I also “plan” to be spontaneous! While reading over your Pre-Mom Bucket List, I realized as a mom getting to fit in these things throughout parenthood are always savored and greatly enjoyed! 🙂
Our little bundle is 3 weeks and a day, I thought I wouldnt have any more time to read! But I have read more books since she was born because it makes those AM feedings go by much faster!!
Aww congrats!
Yes! The kindle has been perfect for nursing sessions bc I don’t have to turn on a light to read. I have never finished so many books!
You should add all the fun travel you did to that list!!! So excited for you two:)
Good bucket list items! I read TONS when I was pregnant and now I never read at all, it happens. I got a mani/pedi two days before I delivered and the nurse holding my foot back while I was pushing did say they looked nice and that she appreciates nice feet for that part of her job ; )
Hahahah
I loved On the Island! I really hope she writes some more books. Just went to look & she has a new one next year! 🙂
For some reason, I think the name will be Mason… as in “Mason Jar” 🙂 Can’t wait to find out!
wow…you make it (pregnancy) look so easy! At twenty one weeks, my current “mom” bucket list includes the following:
1) don’t eat egg rolls for dinner every night
2) don’t let the laundry pile get higher than me
3) purchase school supplies for my second grader before second grade starts
4) be vain enough to get my highlights touched up before my roots get any longer
I suck at being pregnant, yet I am reveling in it at the same time. Best to you!
I am so excited for you. Each day I go to your site I wonder “is today the day???”. Do you plan on doing updates throughout labor? (as much as you can) or
Just let the world know its starting then find out what happened after the little guy is here??
We don’t really know yet but I hope to update as much as I can – Twitter at the least!
Love your bucket list. I got a pedicure the day before I delivered. 🙂
I say this every time but you are getting SO close. Seems like yesterday you were announcing your pregnancy on the blog. I know all your readers are very excited for you. Can’t wait to see pics!
The Hand That First Held Mine – Loved that book!
