Two little reflections on finding out we’re having a little BOY!
Mini He
I was walking on the downtown mall this week and noticed a cute man pick up a little boy. They were dressed alike and looked alike, and that’s when it hit me: the best thing about having a little boy is that he is a little Matt! I’ve always known that having a child who was half Matt’s would mean so much to me, and having a boy gives him an edge on my female genes because he’s a boy.
Of course I realize our little boy might look more like me or act nothing like his dad, but there’s no denying that Matt’s genes will be in there and I’m sure some of him will come out, whether it’s via nature or nurture. Heck, even the bears have some of his male personality!
I Want To Write You A Love Song
Recently this song came onto my Norah Jones Pandora station:
The song is about a dog, but as I was listening, I missed the part about the “man” having “forefeet” and thought for a minute she could be singing to a baby!
You never lie and you don’t cheat
And you don’t have any baggage tied to yourforefeetlittle feet
Do I deserve to be the one who will feed you breakfast, lunch and dinner
And take you to the park at dawn [in your BOB stroller]
I just love the jazzy song and had visions of me singing it as a lullaby to my little man someday.
Which got me thinking about all of the love songs in the world that you could probably apply to a baby boy!
Boy excitement is getting stronger!
